Lunasol Water Gel Foundation YO03

9 Apr 2011

Lunasol Water Gel Foundation, a water based gel type foundation available in six shades. This gel type foundation has approximately 65% water composition and help delivers moisture with a cool refreshing sensation to the skin. I have choosen shade YO03, the perfect match for my NC-25/Shu uemura 763 skintone. I'm really pleased I had gone up a shade with this one, I have been using  the OC02 and OC03 in the water cream foundation but I felt the shades weren't matching my skintone correctly. This water gel foundation suited my skin tone perfectly. If you're a darker skintone than I am, I would recommend either the OC03 or OC04 (darkest color available)

The 30g squeeze tube foundation are supplied with a soft applicator sponge, I use the Sigma F82 - Round top kabuki brush to apply the foundation, I'd only need a small amount of foundation, about half a pea sized amount, buff it on to skin leaving a flawless finish.

This has a gel like cream texture provide a medium coverage, spread smoothly and evenly leaving a nice clean finish, the sort of airbrushed look you would see in magazines. It also concealed minor facial blemishes and freckles, skin felt hydrated throughout the day by the gel formula and with a SPF25 PA++ protection, now I could go out without worrying about the UV rays, thus the less use of the extra sunscreen.

Bare face without foundation. Only concealer worn under eyes.
It provided the same results as with using my MUFE HD foundation. I'd had originally thought this could have a thicker coverage but interestingly enough, it wasn't as rich in texture than I'd thought consider it being a gel based foundation.

FOTD - makeup powder set. ready to go!
This has now become my HG foundation, I love everything about it, I rate this one better than the MUFE actually purely because it has the extra SPF protection though I'd have to bear in mind the price for this has costed more but overall, very pleased with the item.

With love

This looks really nice! You didn't find it too yellow on your skin considering that you're a NC-25?

Hi Kat,

The foundation hasn't appear too much yellow on me at all. Had tried the ochre options on the Lunasol previous foundation range but it were either too light or too beige on me so luckily opted for the YO option.

My only concern are for darker ladies out there because the colors are limited and as I'm a NC-25 and I wear the YO03 already, not much other options out there.

Thank you for stopping by Kat, hope you have a fantastic weekend =)

I'm an NC-25 too or around there. I think that I'm more like an NC26-27 because the NC30 is too dark and the NC25 can be a tad bit too light. This foundation sounds interesting but I definitely don't like being yellow. I do use OC-2 but from the Maquillage line.

Thank you and you have an awesome weekend too!

Thanks for your review on this. I'm tempted to order this product online. The product description says that it's sweat-proof, but I was wondering what your thoughts are on that. Do you think it would withstand an exercise session? I may start riding my bike to work...and don't want my foundation to melt/sweat off! :) I don't know if it makes a difference to know that I have normal to combination skin.

I'm also NC20/25... but I may be more on the NC20 side of things. Do you think the YO03 will still work for me?

@Boobooninja,

I've worn the foundation during an exercise programme, I wouldn't exactly rate this a sweat-proof foundation but it does stay longer compared to other foundations out there. Just make sure to set the foundation with a finishing powder to set the foundation in to place.

I think either the 02 or 03 color variation could compliment your NC20/25 skintone, its great for normal/combination skin.

Thanks for stopping by ;)

@fabulous aimee,

Yes I have tried the Shu Uemura face architect. I much prefer Lunasol one as it has a gel formula and much suitable for my drier skin type.

Both foundations are very good =)
